Yuza (Japan)
Yuza can be found on the main island of Honshu, in the northwestern part of Yamagata Prefecture, on the edge of Shonai Plain which slopes from Chokai Mountain (2,236m) to the coast of the Sea of Japan. On an extremely rich and varied landscape considering its natural endowments and beauty (hot springs, sand dunes, rivers) the farmers carry on intensive rice and garden production. The medicinal baths and their related services are in high esteem. The Gakko River is home to 50 different species of fish and a favourite spawning area for salmon. Big electronics companies are also active in the town. As the present administrative unit Yuza was formed in 1954, with the merger of the municipal goverments of several neighbouring villages and Yuza giving its name to the new settlement. Currently, the number of population is 25,000 fő. Yuza has been our twin town since 2004.
